Elijah has just told Xavier about the first time he tried
morphine. He is embarrassed I feel for betraying himself and giving into the
pull of drug abuse. He was so sick and desperate that he lost the respect for
his body. As he tells Xavier this, X isn’t happy. X hated this addictive poison
for what it did to people. Their spirt left and they were no longer whole.
Elijah knew what he did was wrong, but when people are desperate they will do
anything to help their situation. “Elijah fights the fear by himself, and then
just decides to let his head float away.” (127) Elijah has a battle within, he
may feel no pain but the fear is very real. Perhaps even in his state he
remembers what his morals are and fights the pull of the drug, but it’s too
strong and just lets his self go.
Yes, I hear you out. I thought it was interesting how they described the effect of Elijah's head simply popping off and he was able to see the whole ship. I believed Xavier wasn't angry because he hated the morphine. It sounded more like he was upset that Elijah never told him sooner and that he felt left out. Elijah was making friends but no one noticed Xavier anymore, even though he was clearly the better sniper and hunter. Perhaps Xavier will have a dose with Elijah?
ReplyDeleteX is definitely against the effects morphine has on a person however I wonder how he feels about other drugs. When it comes time for X to take morphine for the first time will he fight taking it or will he be willing to take it? He doesn't prevent elijah from having more of it when he gets injured so does that mean he is against it or just against the morphine when it is not needed?
ReplyDeleteYes i definitely agree with you. He cannot help himself or make himself do something better because he doesnt know no other way. So would we say he is addicted to itt, or just doesnt know another way to help himself out and quit the bad tings? Will Xavier eever decide to fight this bad drug, or will he just keep taking it him and not doing anything about it?
